Mobile App "Famous Books - Treasures of the Bavarian State Library"

From now on, not just library users, but also lovers of rare books and old manuscripts of all over the world can view and browse through 52 digitized top items of the Bavarian State Library (like "Heliand", "Parzival" by Wolfram von Eschenbach, and the 42-line Gutenberg Bible) via App for iPad, iPhone and iPod. This is a further step of the Bavarian State Library to continuously expand its digital information services. All 52 objects were produced in the Munich DigitiZation Center / Digital Library (MDZ). The App is available free of charge under the title "Famous Books - Treasures of the Bavarian State Library". The BSB-Explorer, a gesture based presentation system of the MDZ at the International Archival Culture Exhibition in Seoul

During IACE2010IACE2010’s presentation of the UNESCO Memory of the World the BSB-Explorer was set up to present some of the most precious manuscripts and printings of the Bavarian State Library. More than 50,000 visitors came to see the exhibition of 100 precious documents from 83 countries, making it a grand success and an endurance testing for the BSB Explorer.

Digitised Music Supplies from the Collections of the Bavarian State Library

This continuously growing category contains digitized printed sheet music of a broad variety of music types and epochs from the holdings of the BSB's Department of Music, which are not subject to copyright protection. By way of example, the complete edition of the works of Georg Friedrich HÄndel (so-called Chrysander edition, published from 1858 to 1902) and the edition of musical works by Franz Liszt (so-called Carl-Alexander edition, published from 1907 to 1936) should be mentioned.
