100,000 digital copies scanned in the Munich DigitiZation Center
Later this year, the hundred thousandth digital object, which has been scanned by the Munich DigitiZation Center (MDZ), will be put online. In 1997, the founding year of the MDZ, no one would ever have thought that this figure could be reached. With a throughput of about 1,000 PDF downloads per day and over 30 terabytes of data volume per year the digital copies of the MDZ enjoy great popularity among users. Download queen is currently the Nuremberg Chronicle (Schedelsche Weltchronik). The 100,000 MDZ copies are provided in addition to the more than 1 million works digitized during the co-operation with Google.
