Sources on the History of the Fugger Family

The Fugger, a family of weavers, who moved to Augsburg in 1367, rose to become one of the most powerful trading houses in Europe in the 15th and 16th centuries. Raised to the nobility at the beginning of the 16th century, the Fuggers withdrew more and more from business life from the second half of the century onwards. In the decades after 1600 they moved on to a noble lifestyle. In 2009 the Bavarian State Library acquired two high-ranking books on the family history of the Fuggers.
