Allotria

The 'Kneipzeitungen' of the Munich artists' association Allotria, founded in 1873 and still in existence today, formed an important organ of internal communication. Often satirical or self-ironic texts, poems and drawings reflect the life of this important artists' association, whose members included the painters Franz von Lenbach and Franz von Stuck, the caricaturist Wilhelm Busch or the architect brothers Gabriel and Emanuel von Seidl. The volumes from 1873 to 1910 were digitized, whereby the copies of the Bavarian State Library could be supplemented with material from the Allotria Archive. Two further volumes contain festive programs, e.g. for birthdays of individual members, speeches, menus and much more.
