The Munich DigitiZation Center (MDZ) of the Bavarian State Library and the University and Regional Library Tyrol (ULB) are pleased to invite you to the Workshop Improving Access to Text – research results and practical experience from the IMPACT project, which will take place Friday, May 7th, 2010, at the University Library in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The workshop’s aims are twofold: to introduce the EU-funded project IMPACT – IMProving Access to Text – to a wider audience and make its work more widely known, and to discuss the different challenges with the creation of digital full texts of historical material.
The workshop will not only show the benefits of optical character recognition (OCR) and digital full-texts for libraries, museums and archives, but also present concrete use cases and some of the technical tools developed in the project, as well as provide practical advice for digitization projects.
