Card catalogue of the Munich RISM office (music prints), RISM series A/I, music prints before the year 1800

(The card catalogue of the series A/I ('music prints before the year 1800') of the Répertoire International des Sources Musicales, of the Munich office forming part of the overall German working group, documents the data collected with respect to the music prints in the possession of west-German institutions in the time from 1953 to 2005.

The total of a little over 54,000 title cards include the complete titles (in cases where there are several identical specimens, complemented by a reference to the first entry), the locations and the classification marks. Due to the long compilation period, collections may have changed. This means that music collections may have been relocated, frequently also changing the classification mark, partly even taken to other libraries or archives or taken apart entirely (many private collections, for example), so that the RISM seals used for the registration of the prints on the cards may have changed as well. The digitised version of the detailed title cards is now issued nonetheless, completing the data that are frequently contained only in abbreviated form in the RISM Catalog , as an asset for research. The alphabetical sorting in accordance with composers is followed by the sorting of anonymous authors and collections. The titles are stated in alphabetical order for the latter category.

In connection with the card catalogue of the prints of the same series published by the Dresden office ( to the card catalogue from the Dresden office ), now all prints in Germany are published together in the form of a digital collection.
